Mapping the world’s billionaires

According to the latest annual billionaires listing by Forbes, the United States has the highest net worth of billionaires across the globe.
In it’s 27th annual billionaires edition, Forbes has noted an increase of billionaires to 1,426 individuals across the globe, with a total net worth of $5.4 trillion.
That means 201 new names have been added to the exclusive list, up from the 1,226 billionaire’s in 2012.
Where in the world?
According to Forbes, the US still holds a majority of the world’s billionaires (422), with Asia-Pacific (386), Europe (366), the Americas (129), the Middle East & Africa (103) following suit.
The BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China) represent three of the five countries with the largest net worth of billionaires.
Russia is worth over $427.1 billion, placing second overall, while China ($262.9 billion) and India ($193.6 billion) are the fourth and fifth largest when it comes to the billionaires that live there.
The country with the largest net worth of billionaires is the United States with a combined wealth of $1.87 trillion, with Germany ($296.3 billion) the third largest.
South Africa’s billionaires contribute $22 billion to the total of $279 billion for the Middle East and Africa region, Forbes said.
