Cape Town is a world class African city

A new survey conducted by Travel+Leasure has named Cape Town as the 4th best city in the world, and the best in Africa.
Travel + Leasure is a monthly international travel magazine and claims to have 4.8 million readers. The magazine compiles an annual list of top cities, hotels and getaways, based on a questionnaire given to its readers.
For its 2013 best cities ranking, Cape Town retained the same position as it did in 2012, beaten only by Florence (Italy), Istanbul (Turkey) and Bankok (Thailand)

The scores are indexed averages of responses concerning applicable characteristics, rated on scale of 1 to 5.
The cities were scored on their sights, culture/arts, restaurants/food, people, shopping, value – as well as an optional criterion for romance.
South Africa is also home to 3 of the top 10 hotels listed by the magazine:
- Singita, Kruger National Park (3rd)
- Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve (9th)
- Singita Sabi Sand (10th)
