New FNB website: surprising traffic growth
Despite glitches and a mixed reception from consumers, FNB CEO Michael Jordaan says that the bank’s recently revamped web portal has boosted unique traffic by 15%.
On 14 July 2013, FNB went live with its new look banking website, which updated the site’s visual and systems, as well as making access to digital banking scalable across all platforms.
New enhancements to the site include an improved user experience, being touch screen friendly, easy buttons and menus, responsive design enabling scalability to multiple devices with layered, seamless security.
The site was developed entirely by FNB Online developers working at the bank’s office complex in Fairlands north of Johannesburg.
And despite technical hiccups and some negative consumer feedback, Jordaan said he was “very happy with [the] stats” surrounding the new site, including a 15% increase in month-on-month traffic.
In May FNB said it attracted 2.8 million unique visitors to its website each month.
In June, the bank announced that its FNB Tablet App has in excess of 20,000 active users across iPad, Android and Windows 8, bringing the total active apps base to 520,000.
Delivering its results for the six months ending December 2012, the bank reported a 29% rise in online banking customers year-on-year, to 1.5 million.
