Takealot launching ‘Black Friday’ in July sale

Online retail group Takealot is launching its Ultimate Checkout sale, which it says will offer a host of discounts, midnight launch exclusives and daily deals “at last’s year’s Black Friday prices”.

The sale will run from Wednesday, 24 to Sunday, 28 July, the group said, with the items selected from the most wished-for, highest-rated, top-trending and most-searched lists on its platform.

“The sale is all based on an analysis of aggregated behaviour and trends of over 90 million searches,
reviews and wish lists from millions of shoppers,” the group said.

The sale will also feature benefits for the TakealotMORE subscription service.

Takealot launched its subscription service in May 2024, offering free delivery on purchases. The service has now expanded and will be offering coupons to add even more discounts on sale items.

TakealotMORE subscribers will unlock a unique Takealot coupon that offers an extra 20% off the Ultimate Checkout Sale—with a maximum discount of R1000—along with additional Mr D coupons to use on the Mr D app.

Following on from the success of the promotion during Black Friday, Takealot said the mid-year sale will also play host to a live stream event over three days (24, 25, 26 July).

There will also be a midnight sale kicking off the event on Takealot’s Instagram or Facebook page at 00h01 on 24 July.
