These are the richest men in the world in 2016

Bloomberg has released its latest billionaire’s index for 2016, showing that Amazon founder and chief, Jeff Bezos, has crept past investor Warren Buffett to become the third richest man in the world.

With a fortune of $65.05 billion, Bezos is richer than Buffett by a ‘mere’ $32 million – but his position is strengthening, according to Bloomberg, as Amazon’s stock is targetted to hit $1,000 a share, which could catapult Bezos to number two in the world.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates remains the richest man in the world, with a net worth of $89 billion; this is followed by Inditex SA founder Amancio Ortega with $73 billion.

Warren Buffett’s drop to fourth place isn’t due to poor investment choices, but is rather chalked up to his philanthropy, having donated $2.2 billion of his fortune to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation earlier in the year.

These are the 10 richest people in the world, according to Bloomberg.
