{"id":101610,"date":"2015-10-19T15:04:38","date_gmt":"2015-10-19T13:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=101610"},"modified":"2015-10-19T15:08:11","modified_gmt":"2015-10-19T13:08:11","slug":"watch-the-south-african-ad-that-has-the-world-surfing-champions-mom-fuming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/101610\/watch-the-south-african-ad-that-has-the-world-surfing-champions-mom-fuming\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch: The South African ad that has the world surfing champion&#8217;s mom fuming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KFC South Africa has come under fire for an advert in which it parodies a world surfing champion being attacked by a shark.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple-time world surfing champion Australian surfer, Mick Fanning, escaped an attack by a great white shark during the J-Bay Open in Jeffrey\u2019s Bay, South Africa, in mid July.<\/p>\n<p>Fast-food chain KFC South Africa, created a parody of the attack, showing a look-alike surfer being attacked by a shark only to lift it above his head while surfing a wave&#8230;with the pay off: &#8216;next level awesome&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Fanning&#8217;s mother, Elizabeth Osborne, called the advert disrespectful. In an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/sport\/were-very-upset-mick-fannings-mother-attacks-kfc-ad-parodying-shark-attack-20151018-gkc82r.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fairfax Media<\/a>, Fanning said: &#8220;Some families have had fatalities and some people are still absolutely scarred without limbs.
