Young South Africans, black coloured and white, all agree that the idea of the Rainbow Nation, a term coined by Nelson Mandela<\/a> at his Inauguration as President in 1994, has died.<\/p>\n

Instead it has been replaced by a ‘cappuccino society’ which is a vast majority of black at the bottom,with cream on top, and a few chocolate sprinklings on top of that.<\/p>\n

A report by the BBC<\/a> investigates how South Africa is seeing the emergence of a new black consciousness movement – most notable in a recent nationwide student protest about the high fees required for tertiary education.<\/p>\n

Commentator, Max Du Preez said that the country is facing a second transition. He said that the new transition needed to ensure that there are more happier people at the end of it. He warned that it needed to be peaceful, and must not destroy the economy.<\/p>\n
