Time has released its list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and makes mention of key figures in the technology space.<\/p>\n
The list isn’t a numbered affair where influence is scaled and listed according to some quantative measure, instead featuring each selected individual for their own measure of influence.<\/p>\n
“We try to choose those people whose influence is both lasting and, with a few notable exceptions, laudable,” said Time.<\/p>\n
“Our categories \u2014 Breakouts, Pioneers, Moguls, Leaders and Icons \u2014 reflect the different types of influence demonstrated by people on the list.”<\/p>\n
Musicians, artists, actors, sports stars, chefs, authors, political leaders and even comedians, all form part of the list – with South Africa’s own double-amputee sprinter, Oscar Pistorius making a showing.<\/p>\n
People who’ve had an influence in the tech and online space got their place in the spotlight as well.<\/p>\n
Top tech influencers<\/strong><\/p>\n While the expected big-name CEOs in tech, such as Apple<\/a> CEO, Tim Cook, and IBM’s<\/a> chief, Virginia Rometty, made it onto the list – a big theme with influential individuals in tech centered around the Internet, start-ups and pioneering social change through online media.<\/p>\n The top technology influencers (in no particular order), according to Time’s list of 100 most influential people in the world, are as follows:<\/p>\n\n
