{"id":104331,"date":"2015-11-17T09:12:20","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T07:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=104331"},"modified":"2015-11-17T09:12:20","modified_gmt":"2015-11-17T07:12:20","slug":"major-french-bakery-brand-hitting-sa-in-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/104331\/major-french-bakery-brand-hitting-sa-in-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Major French bakery brand hitting SA in 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Famous Brands has struck a deal to bring renowned French bakery-caf\u00e9 chain, PAUL, to South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The family-owned PAUL chain of caf\u00e9s was established in 1889 in France, and specialises in serving French baked goods, such as bread, crepes, pastries and cakes.<\/p>\n<p>PAUL serves over five million customers a month in its 400-plus bakeries across France, as well as the 127-plus stores in 27 other countries across the world.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new partnership, Famous Brands will be building five PAUL stores in the country over the next five years, with potential to expand the brand further into Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The first flagship store will open in the country by the end of 2016, the group said.<\/p>\n<p>The label will fall under Famous Brands&#8217; &#8220;premium&#8221; portfolio, following two years of courting the chain.<\/p>\n<p>Famous Brands already owns and operates several bakery and caf\u00e9 brands in South Africa, such as Bread Basket, Mugg &amp; Bean, Europa and Fego Caff\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResearch confirms the continued growth in this country of the higher LSM and middle income market, with consumers constantly looking to indulge in premium brands that offer quality,&#8221;
