{"id":106877,"date":"2015-12-11T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-12-11T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=106877"},"modified":"2015-12-11T11:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-12-11T09:00:00","slug":"watch-first-address-from-south-africas-new-finance-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/106877\/watch-first-address-from-south-africas-new-finance-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch: First address from South Africa&#8217;s new finance minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>David van Rooyen was on Thursday afternoon sworn in as South Africa\u2019s new minister of finance.<\/p>\n<p>The minister\u2019s brief swearing-in ceremony follows the announcement made by President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>In his announcement President Zuma announced that minister van Rooyen would replace Nhlanhla Nene as minister.<\/p>\n<p>President Zuma said Nene has been removed ahead of his deployment to another strategic position. The President said that Nene had done well since his appointment on 25 May 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Minister van Rooyen took his oath at the ceremony, attended by President Zuma, at the Union Buildings.
