{"id":107021,"date":"2015-12-11T18:29:03","date_gmt":"2015-12-11T16:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=107021"},"modified":"2015-12-11T19:09:16","modified_gmt":"2015-12-11T17:09:16","slug":"zuma-speaks-out-on-why-he-axed-nene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/107021\/zuma-speaks-out-on-why-he-axed-nene\/","title":{"rendered":"Zuma speaks out on why he axed Nene"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Jacob Zuma has spoken out for the first time on the appointment of David van Rooyen as minister of finance.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining his decision in a statement, Zuma said the &#8220;urgency of the changes in the leadership of the National Treasury&#8221; was because nominations needed to be sent to Shanghai in terms of the head of the African Regional Centre of the New Development Bank\/BRICS Bank, which will be based in Johanesburg&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Zuma said former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene had been nominated for the post.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr Nene is our candidate for this position.
