The group assessed six top smartphones across five factors, including camera quality, battery life, design, software and network portability.<\/p>\n
“We’re most interested in phones as travel companions, so our chief criteria were battery life and camera performance,” the magazine said.<\/p>\n
“Other factors\u2014design, software, ergonomics, features, even price\u2014were important, but less so.”<\/p>\n
“Network portability\u2014the ease of moving the phone across networks with minimum hassle or cost, both in the U.S. and abroad\u2014can be important to travelers, since data options change frequently, and your sanity can depend on seizing an offer on the road.”<\/p>\n
Each phone was put to the test and given a score out of five in each factor.<\/p>\n

The winner<\/h3>\n
Overall, Conde Nast found Apple’s iPhone 6s to be the best bet for travelers, lauding its much improved battery life, and its top-quality camera.<\/p>\n
“It doesn’t pack the highest megapixel count, and its output can tend toward the muted; but Apple’s new 12MP sensor strikes an unimpeachable balance between just enough and too much,” it said.<\/p>\n
The only down-side to the phone was the price.<\/p>\n
The runner up in the testing was the Nexus 6P (via Huawei) which outperformed its predecessor, the Nexus 6, in every way.<\/p>\n
