{"id":108769,"date":"2016-01-13T09:19:27","date_gmt":"2016-01-13T07:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=108769"},"modified":"2016-01-13T09:20:10","modified_gmt":"2016-01-13T07:20:10","slug":"this-is-what-a-r1600-doughnut-looks-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/108769\/this-is-what-a-r1600-doughnut-looks-like\/","title":{"rendered":"This is what a R1,600 doughnut looks like"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While Krispy Kreme may have made quite a splash in South Africa, it probably won&#8217;t be serving this doughnut on its menu any time soon.<\/p>\n<p>Made with rare ingredients and topped with Cristal Champagne icing and 24-carat gold flakes, the $100 (R1,660) golden doughnut from the Manila Social Club is one of the most expensive doughnuts in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The dough itself is a p\u00e2te \u00e0 choux &#8211; the same dough that you&#8217;ll find an eclairs. It contains ube, which is a rare purple-coloured sweet potato.<\/p>\n<p>Inside, it has an ube mousse, with chunks of Cristal jelly.
