The South African Presidency has issued a correction to the recent claim by President Jacob Zuma that Africa\u00a0was the biggest continent on earth.<\/p>\n
Zuma was speaking to the business community<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in December 2015, and\u00a0said \u201cthis continent is the biggest continent in the world\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cAll continents put together will fit into Africa,\u201d he said<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cAfrica is in fact the second biggest continent in terms of population size, and the biggest continent in this regard is Asia,\u201d said the Presidency.<\/p>\n \u201cAccording to the United Nations World Population Prospects 2015, 60% of the world population lives in Asia (4.4 billion), 16% in Africa (1.2 billion), 10% in Europe (737 million), 9% in Latin America and the Caribbean (634 million), and the remaining 5% in North America (358 million) and Oceania (39 million).\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe President regrets the error.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018We exaggerate our problems in South Africa\u2019: Zuma<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Watch: \u2018Zuma has a golden toilet at Nkandla\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nMore on president Zuma<\/h3>\n
