{"id":109751,"date":"2016-01-21T17:58:12","date_gmt":"2016-01-21T15:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=109751"},"modified":"2016-01-22T11:32:13","modified_gmt":"2016-01-22T09:32:13","slug":"south-africa-internet-hit-by-seacom-outage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/broadband\/109751\/south-africa-internet-hit-by-seacom-outage\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa internet hit by Seacom outage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South African internet users have been left frustrated on Thursday afternoon following a mass outage.<\/p>\n<p>Seacom, a sub-sea and terrestrial high speed fiber-optic cable operator, said that it &#8216;is experiencing a critical outage \u2013 15:00 GMT&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Seacom operates a cable which runs along Africa\u2019s east coast from South Africa to Europe.<\/p>\n<p>It sent out the following statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Seacom is experiencing multiple outages on the terrestrial network across Egypt.\u00a0 All our international connectivity through Egypt has been affected since 14:06GMT on the 21st January 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Repair teams have been dispatched.
