Vodacom has reportedly won its case against a former employee, who resigned from the mobile operator in December to join rival company, MTN.<\/p>\n
Vodacom launched urgent court proceedings against former Vodacom Chief Officer: Consumer Business Unit\u201a Godfrey Motsa\u201a who resigned on 23 December 2015 to take up the position of MTN\u2019s VP of the South and East Africa Region on 1 January 2016.<\/p>\n
Citing ENSafrica, who acted for Vodacom, Sowetan<\/a> reported that Vodacom\u00a0 wanted to enforce the terms of Motsa\u2019s contract\u201a which included a six-month notice period and a restraint of trade for a further six months.<\/p>\n On Monday the paper reported that Vodacom was successful in its bid to enforce its contract terms on Motsa, who will need to see out his gardening leave period ending in June 2016.<\/p>\n Motsa is also prevented from working for MTN for a further six months in terms of the restraint of trade clause, Sowetan said, following court admissions that he had access to significant confidential and proprietary information belonging to Vodacom.<\/p>\n Vodacom confirmed Motsa\u2019s departure in December, saying he left the company \u201cwith immediate effect to pursue other opportunities\u201d.<\/p>\n Vodacom appointed Motsa as head of the\u00a0business unit in February 2015, replacing Phil Patel.<\/p>\n Before moving to the new role, Motsa served as chief officer of regional operations at Vodacom \u2013 having moved from the position of MD at Vodacom Congo in 2014.<\/p>\n What Vodacom and MTN don\u2019t want you to know about WhatsApp and Facebook in SA<\/a><\/p>\nMore on Vodacom<\/h3>\n
