Criminals have an iron grip on South African society, with statistics showing that we rank among the world’s worst when it comes to murder.<\/p>\n

The reality and atrocity of criminal behaviour is often lost or watered down by the sheer of volume of crime committed on a daily basis – through statistics.<\/p>\n

The South African Police Service has, however, shared a number of sobering images of the weapons it has already confiscated in the country in 2016, as a reminder.<\/p>\n

The images were\u00a0posted by the SAPS on its Twitter account and show weapons of varying sophistication, from pangas to home-made shotguns to AK47s.<\/p>\n
