The SABC\u2019s\u00a0chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng is offering a R100,000 reward to anyone who exposes staff members for leaking information to the media, according to a report by the Sunday Times.<\/p>\n
Motsoeneng denied the reward scheme, stated\u00a0the report, but went on to warn that the broadcaster \u201cintended to investigate and shame media houses that reported negatively on the SABC\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe confirmed that an executive decision had been taken to deal with people who leak internal SABC information,\u201d stated the report.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the SABC we have a policy to deal with the leaking of information,\u201d said\u00a0Motsoeneng.<\/p>\n
He went on to state that \u201cit was time\u201d for the SABC to investigate\u00a0media houses, as\u00a0Motsoeneng knew \u201chorrible stories\u201d about the working conditions at other establishments.<\/p>\n
The Sunday Times stated that senior SABC editors were told about the R100,000 incentive during a recent management meeting.<\/p>\n
