{"id":113542,"date":"2016-02-21T09:06:15","date_gmt":"2016-02-21T07:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=113542"},"modified":"2016-02-21T09:06:15","modified_gmt":"2016-02-21T07:06:15","slug":"what-south-africans-really-think-about-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/113542\/what-south-africans-really-think-about-government\/","title":{"rendered":"What South Africans really think about government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new survey published in the Sunday Times finds that a great majority (78.7%) of South Africans believe that &#8220;the people in government are incompetent and corrupt and are indeed to blame for the poor state of the economy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The report, published Good Governance Africa as part of a body of work on public perceptions of the government titled: &#8220;What the People Really Think&#8221;, found that more than half (56.2%) of respondents agreed that &#8220;people are giving up hope that the government will listen to them&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Eight out of 10 respondents see the government to be incompetent and corrupt, and to blame for the poor economy, the authors of the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Only 12.4% of the respondents agreed that &#8220;the people in government are generally competent and not corrupt&#8221;.
