A new global rich-list published by research company Hurun reveals the industries that excelled the most over the past year – and which industries have the most dollar billionaires.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeff Bezos replaced Larry Ellison as the world’s richest tech billionaire for the first time, according to Hurun’s Global Rich List 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Technology Media and Telecom (TMT) sector has produced the most billionaires out of any industry \u2013 with 307 companies featuring, accounting for 14% of the entire list.<\/p>\n

This includes 39 newcomers, featuring\u00a0the likes of AirBnB, Kunlun Tech, Jetsen, Flipkart, and MagicLeap.<\/p>\n

TMT, Real estate, Manufacturing and Investments made up half of the main source of wealth for the billionaires.<\/p>\n

It has been a good year for Manufacturing, Pharma, Investments and Tech\u00a0–\u00a0but a bad year for Energy and Real Estate, the report said.<\/p>\n

The report showed that China is now the world’s billionaire capital, with 100 billionaires residing in Beijing, compared with 95 in New York. <\/span>Moscow is third with 66 billionaires.<\/p>\n

The research firm also noted that China has overtaken the US as the country with the highest number of billionaires, overall – \u00a0with 568 versus 535 – having gained 90 new super wealthy individuals. India was placed third, with 111 billionaires.<\/p>\n

Hurun said that despite a global economic slowdown, the world saw 99 new dollar billionaires, to a total of 2,188 individuals\u00a0from 68 countries<\/span> \u2013 a record amount.<\/p>\n

Total wealth increased by 9% to US$7.3 trillion\u00a0\u2013\u00a0more than the GDP of Germany and the UK combined, and coming close to half that of the USA.<\/p>\n

729 individuals saw their wealth decrease, while 102 dropped out of this\u00a0year\u2019s list.<\/p>\n

The research company pointed out that the average age on the list is 64, while 69% of all billionaires are self-made.<\/p>\n
