The internet ride-sharing service further moved to get its drivers licensed by the Western Cape provincial transport department.

Metered taxi drivers also protested in Gauteng last year as they claimed that Uber drivers have an unfair competitive advantage because of a lack of regulation around the internet service.

Fin24

More on Uber

New meter law to hit Uber taxis in South Africa

Here is why your Uber taxi will be more expensive this Christmas

Internet ride-sharing company Uber says it welcomes a new transport bill that plans a crackdown on drivers who don’t have meter taxi licences.

[34,9878
26,6457
post-115694","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mobile","category-technology","tag-headline","tag-uber
["GET
