{"id":115878,"date":"2016-03-08T19:05:08","date_gmt":"2016-03-08T17:05:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=115878"},"modified":"2016-03-09T17:25:14","modified_gmt":"2016-03-09T15:25:14","slug":"who-is-hiring-and-firing-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/115878\/who-is-hiring-and-firing-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Who is hiring and firing in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa is expected to see muted job growth in the second quarter of 2016, as companies largely plan to keep staff numbers unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for Q2 2016, which tracks the hiring and firing plans of 752 companies across various sectors in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, only 13% of employers will be looking to hire new staff between April and June 2016, while a smaller percentage &#8211; 8% &#8211; are expecting to cut jobs. The vast majority of companies (77%) said that there would likely be no changes.<\/p>\n<p>The stats give South Africa a net employment outlook of 5% growth &#8211; the lowest rate over the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Most job losses will be within large companies (with 250 employees or more), though it also expects to see the biggest increase &#8211; with net employment growth at 12%.<\/p>\n<p>Regionally, KwaZulu Natal is expected to see job hiring increase by 8%, followed by the Eastern Cape (7%), Gauteng (6%) and the Free State (2%).
