{"id":117456,"date":"2016-03-18T14:04:49","date_gmt":"2016-03-18T12:04:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=117456"},"modified":"2016-03-18T14:04:49","modified_gmt":"2016-03-18T12:04:49","slug":"get-ready-for-a-petrol-price-hike-next-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/117456\/get-ready-for-a-petrol-price-hike-next-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Get ready for a petrol price hike next month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Automobile Association (AA) says South African motorists can expect a petrol price increase of between 31 and 35 cents a litre in April.<\/p>\n<p>This, it said,\u00a0will be on\u00a0top of the 30 cents a litre increase in the fuel levy which also becomes effective from April.<\/p>\n<p>The AA, commenting on unaudited mid-month data released by the Central Energy Fund (CEF), said sustained gains in international petroleum prices were the biggest factor affecting the predicted hikes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The current picture is of a price increase ranging from 31 to 35 cents a litre for petrol, 60 cents for diesel and 52 cents for illuminating paraffin,&#8221; the AA said.<\/p>\n<p>The next fuel price increase will also include the 30 cents a litre hike in the fuel levy announced by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan in his February budget.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Combined with the fuel levy increase, the predicted increase of 60 cents a litre for diesel, could mean a price increase of nearly a rand a litre for diesel users,&#8221;
