SABC show On the Record has been canned by the broadcaster\u00a0after its host Vuyo Mvoko planned to discuss state capture on live TV. This is according to a report by the City Press.<\/p>\n
The report stated that the show was cancelled following \u201cdisagreements\u201d between Mvoko and SABC bosses \u2013 who were concerned about the content of last week\u2019s planned broadcast.<\/p>\n
SABC sources said\u00a0Mvoko wanted to discuss state capture on the platform, which would have scrutinised the Gupta\u2019s involvement in South Africa and their relationship with president Jacob Zuma.<\/p>\n
Mvoko had also planned to interview Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas on the show, following his statement that\u00a0the Gupta family offered him the role of Finance Minister.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is how it is for us at the SABC. We live by censorship,\u201d an unnamed SABC editor was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n
An SABC journalist told the City Press that\u00a0the state broadcaster was protecting government and political leaders, forcing them to \u201cthrow stories in the trash\u201d that portrayed the ANC and President Zuma in a bad light.<\/p>\n
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago told the City Press its broadcasting schedule \u201chas nothing to do with [them]\u201d, in response to questions about Mvoko\u2019s show.<\/p>\n
