{"id":118110,"date":"2016-03-28T19:15:41","date_gmt":"2016-03-28T17:15:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=118110"},"modified":"2016-03-29T10:46:28","modified_gmt":"2016-03-29T08:46:28","slug":"a-look-at-the-r14-billion-lifestyle-village-proposed-for-cape-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/118110\/a-look-at-the-r14-billion-lifestyle-village-proposed-for-cape-town\/","title":{"rendered":"A look at the multi-billion rand lifestyle village proposed for Cape Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Swisatec, property development and management company, is planning to build what it claims to be the first multi-billion rand green village in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Rock Village will upgrade the current Blue Rock Resort located in Somerset West, in Cape Town, with an estimated value of R14 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Plans for the Blue Rock Village include a Life Style Centre, medical centres, boutiques, schools and colleges, nurseries, restaurants and cafes. A Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre are also in the plans.<\/p>\n<p>The development compromises of 1,000 luxury apartments to be built on 40 hectares of land.<\/p>\n<p>The village will be &#8216;car-free&#8217; with all parking to be underground, while apartments will use energy efficient appliances; LED lighting; water-management systems from showers to irrigation; solar water-heating systems and self-generated solar power.<\/p>\n<p>Environmentally friendly building materials and methods will be used during construction, Swisatec said.<\/p>\n<p>Units start from \u20ac200 000 &#8211; R3.4 million &#8211; depending on the exchange rate &#8211; at R40,000 per square meter.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_118134\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a
