As of April,\u00a0Electricity will be hiked by\u00a09.4%, petrol and the new fuel levy will add around 80 cents\u00a0per litre and services such as a DStv subscription\u00a0will do\u00a0up by 8%. Inflation in February was over 7%, and is expected to climb even more &#8211; hitting food prices, which have already rocketed due to an ongoing drought.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bdlive.co.za\/markets\/2016\/03\/29\/jse-likely-to-sit-back-after-recent-rally\" target=\"_blank\">Following strong gains made on the JSE this month, analysts expect things to settle down for the exchange this week, with no big sell-off predicted<\/a><\/strong>. The JSE, along with most stock exchanges, has been taking it cue from US stocks &#8211; but uncertainty remains around the mining sector, which has seen a decline in recent weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>South African markets were closed for four days straight due to the long Easter weekend.\u00a0Prior to the break, the market was volatile against the backdrop of political uncertainty, while a ratings downgrade is still on the table from ratings agency Moody&#8217;s, which was in the country to assess the situation.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xe.com\/currencycharts\/?from=USD&amp;to=ZAR\" target=\"_blank\">On Tuesday, the rand was trading at R15.47 to the dollar, R22.01 to the pound and R17.32 to the euro<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In global news,\u00a0Asian shares struggled to find their footing on Tuesday and\u00a0the dollar clawed back ground lost after downbeat US\u00a0economic data contributed to an uninspiring session on Wall\u00a0Street.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sharenet.co.za\/news\/Weak_US_data_support_Asia_FX_caution_on_Fed_grows\/416ab1b705a1b551f4bddd257ba8c2cf\" target=\"_blank\">Most emerging Asian\u00a0currencies gained on Tuesday as the dollar eased after\u00a0disappointing US\u00a0economic data<\/a><\/strong>, but the possibility that a\u00a0speech by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen could signal a rate\u00a0hike soon made market participants cautious<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Oil prices fell in early Asian trade on Tuesday as concerns\u00a0mount that a rally since January is fizzling out, while\u00a0analysts forecast another rise to record levels for US\u00a0crude stockpiles.
