{"id":11908,"date":"2012-05-08T17:20:46","date_gmt":"2012-05-08T15:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=11908"},"modified":"2012-05-09T10:41:28","modified_gmt":"2012-05-09T08:41:28","slug":"rim-adds-to-executive-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/11908\/rim-adds-to-executive-team\/","title":{"rendered":"RIM adds to executive team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1752-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a> maker <a title=\"Research In Motion (RIM)\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1750-RIM-Research-In-Motion\">Research In Motion (RIM)<\/a> has announced key additions to its executive leadership team by appointing <a title=\"Kristian Tear\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2613-Kristian-Tear\">Kristian Tear<\/a> as chief operating officer and <a title=\"Frank Boulben\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2614-Frank-Boulben\">Frank Boulben<\/a> as chief marketing officer.<\/p>\n<p>Tear joins RIM from <a title=\"Sony Mobile Communications\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1633-Sony\">Sony Mobile Communications<\/a>, where he served as executive vice president. He previously held a variety of operational leadership positions with Ericsson in Europe, Asia and Latin America. At RIM, Tear will serve as COO, overseeing all operational functions for handhelds and services, including research and development, products, global sales, manufacturing and supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKristian and Frank bring extensive knowledge of the rapidly changing wireless global market and will help RIM as we sharpen our focus on delivering long-term value to our stakeholders,\u201d said <a title=\"Thorsten Heins\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1756-Thorsten-Heins\">Thorsten Heins<\/a>, RIM\u2019s President and CEO.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, both Kristian and Frank possess a keen understanding of the emerging trends in mobile communications and computing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRIM is an important player in the mobile industry and I am excited to be a part of its future,\u201d said Tear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to working with the talented RIM employees and harnessing their ingenuity and creativity for the benefit of more than 77 million BlackBerry users around the world. I also look forward to helping RIM attract a brand new generation of BlackBerry users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boulben is the former executive vice president of strategy, marketing and sales for LightSquared. He joined LightSquared after serving as Global Director of Commercial Strategy for <a title=\"Vodafone Group\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1662-Vodafone\">Vodafone Group<\/a> and executive vice president of brand and consumer marketing for <a title=\"Orange Group\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1918-Orange\">Orange Group<\/a>. Boulben will oversee global marketing efforts at RIM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRIM is a pioneer in the mobile world and the BlackBerry brand is a global icon,\u201d said Boulben.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all know how fast the mobile arena evolves and with the BlackBerry 10 platform, I believe RIM will once again change the way individuals and enterprises engage with each other and the world around them.
