{"id":120981,"date":"2016-04-20T08:51:42","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T06:51:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=120981"},"modified":"2016-04-20T08:51:42","modified_gmt":"2016-04-20T06:51:42","slug":"anc-scores-r79-million-from-the-iec-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/120981\/anc-scores-r79-million-from-the-iec-report\/","title":{"rendered":"ANC scores R79 million from the IEC: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ANC has scored the biggest chunk of the R133.6 million election budget managed by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/thetimes\/2016\/04\/20\/ANC-to-get-lions-share-of-R133.7m\">Times Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The IEC manages the\u00a0Represented Political Parties&#8217; Fund, which provides funding for political parties participating in Parliament and provincial legislatures.<\/p>\n<p>The fund is split among South Africa&#8217;s political parties which are represented\u00a0in the National Assembly or in any provincial legislature\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0or both in the National Assembly and in any provincial legislature.<\/p>\n<p>The fund isn&#8217;t split evenly, however, and is distributed according to size.<\/p>\n<p>For 2016, 15 parties listed under the IEC will share R133.7 million in this year&#8217;s party funding, an increase of about R5.9-million from the previous financial year.<\/p>\n<p>This is how the fund was allocated among the top parties for the current financial year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ANC &#8211;
