Cell C has announced the commercial availability of its LTE-Advanced network in Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town.<\/p>\n
The roll-out of LTE-A in KwaZulu-Natal will commence in the coming months and will be completed in the third quarter of this year, said the company.<\/p>\n
LTE-A is available on the following handsets, classified as Category 6 handsets:<\/p>\n
Cell C promised that more handsets and stand-alone data devices that support its LTE-A network will become available in time.<\/p>\n
Users will not see a different symbol for LTE-A on these handsets, said Cell C, with some showing \u201c4G\u201d, while others will show \u201cLTE\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, it said subscribers within an LTE-A coverage area with one of these devices can expect to experience download speeds of up to 100Mbps.<\/p>\n
Cell C demonstrated its LTE-A capabilities at AfricaCom last year, demonstrating speeds of up to 138Mbps.<\/p>\n
