In terms of SAA, delays in appointing a new board are reportedly due to a stalemate with President Jacob Zuma, who wants his friend Dudu Myeni to remain chair of the company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africa&#8217;s rand firmed 1% against the dollar in early trade on Thursday, recovering from a nearly 4-week low hit in the previous session as investors fretted about the ailing economy.\u00a0Stocks inched lower on Wednesday as low-income group lender Capitec Bank said it had been sued for allegedly offering short-term unsecured loans that amounted to &#8220;reckless credit&#8221;. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xe.com\/currencyconverter\/convert\/?Amount=1&amp;From=USD&amp;To=ZAR\">The rand is trading at R14.85 to the dollar, R21.56 to the pound and R17.06 to the euro<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In global news,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/af.reuters.com\/article\/southAfricaNews\/idAFL5N1820NL?sp=true\">Asian shares slipped for a seventh straight session on Thursday as mixed economic data did nothing to assuage concerns about global growth<\/a><\/strong>, keeping sovereign bonds well supported as a hedge against deflation risks.\u00a0US stocks declined for a second day on Wednesday, weighed down by tepid data on private sector US\u00a0jobs and a retreat in biotech shares.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-global-oil-idUSKCN0XW02M\">Oil prices jumped on Thursday as a huge wildfire in Canada disrupted its oil sands production, while escalating fighting in Libya threatened the North African nation&#8217;s output<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0Brent crude futures were trading at $45.32 per barrel, up 70 US cents, while US\u00a0crude futures rose almost $1, to $44.69.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In other news<\/strong>: T<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.enca.com\/south-africa\/eff-suspended-from-parliament-for-five-days\">he Economic Freedom Fighters have been suspended from Parliament for five days<\/a><\/strong> after being removed from the House by security personnel.
