{"id":12257,"date":"2012-05-11T16:35:45","date_gmt":"2012-05-11T14:35:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=12257"},"modified":"2012-05-11T16:59:39","modified_gmt":"2012-05-11T14:59:39","slug":"e-toll-debt-options-being-processed-by-cabinet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/12257\/e-toll-debt-options-being-processed-by-cabinet\/","title":{"rendered":"E-toll debt options being processed by Cabinet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Treasury has declined to comment on reports that South Africa is looking at options to retire a R20 billion debt incurred by the <a title=\"SA National Roads Agency Ltd's (Sanral)\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1722-SANRAL-South-African-National-Roads-Association-Limited\">SA National Roads Agency Ltd (Sanral)<\/a> to upgrade highways around Gauteng.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesman Jabulani Sikhakhane would not comment on the debt payment options. &#8220;There is a cabinet process underway,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cabinet will make a decision. We can&#8217;t say yet what the options are.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sanral had planned to introduce e-tolling in Gauteng on May 1.
