{"id":123403,"date":"2016-05-11T20:37:43","date_gmt":"2016-05-11T18:37:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=123403"},"modified":"2016-05-11T20:37:43","modified_gmt":"2016-05-11T18:37:43","slug":"sabc-radio-stations-to-play-90-local-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/123403\/sabc-radio-stations-to-play-90-local-music\/","title":{"rendered":"SABC radio stations to play 90% local music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Public broadcaster the SABC says it will play 90% local music across its 18 radio stations from Thursday, May 12.<\/p>\n<p>The move follows what the state-owned company says has been \u201cextensive\u201d engagements with music representatives.<\/p>\n<p>In choosing to play 90% local music, the SABC is also going beyond what is required of it by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa).<\/p>\n<p>In March this year, Icasa announced that holders of public sound-broadcasting service licences must play at least 60% South African music.
