However, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bdlive.co.za\/business\/financial\/2016\/05\/18\/bee-may-be-factor-in-who-gets-barclays-africa-stake\">the deal may boil down to the best BEE option, with a staff scheme option on the cards, too, BDLive reports<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ewn.co.za\/2016\/05\/18\/SA-on-track-to-meet-revenue-and-fiscal-targets-Treasury\">South Africa will &#8220;most likely&#8221; achieve the strict\u00a0consolidation targets set out in the budget the Treasury\u00a0said on Tuesday,<\/a><\/strong> despite recent signs that the economy was\u00a0headed for a prolonged period of low growth. However, Treasury said it is not convinced it will hit its revenue targets for the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The rand rallied nearly one percent late on\u00a0Tuesday after Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan said reports\u00a0of his imminent arrest amounted to an attack on the\u00a0Treasury. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xe.com\/currencycharts\/?from=USD&amp;to=ZAR\">On Wednesday it was trading at R15.68 to the dollar, R22.63 to the pound and R17.69 to the euro<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In global news,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/af.reuters.com\/news\/country\/?type=southAfricaNews\">Asian shares weakened on Wednesday in the wake of\u00a0accelerating US inflation <\/a><\/strong>and comments from Federal\u00a0Reserve officials that rekindled prospects of an interest\u00a0rate rise as early as June. \u00a0Wall Street sold off on Tuesday as investors boosted their bets on the Federal Reserve raising rates later this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-global-oil-idUSKCN0Y902Y\">Oil prices were trading near 2016 highs on Wednesday, as\u00a0supply disruptions and output cuts continued to tighten the\u00a0market<\/a><\/strong>, although traders cautioned that high global crude\u00a0inventories were still weighing on markets. International Brent crude futures were trading at $49.31 per barrel while US\u00a0crude futures were unchanged at $48.31 a barrel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In other news:<\/strong> Political party the EFF, which was expelled from Parliament yet again on Tuesday, said <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/thetimes\/2016\/05\/18\/Juju-No-peace-until-Zuma-quits\">it would not stop its disruptive behaviour until President Jacob Zuma resigns from office<\/a><\/strong>.
