The Financial Times has released its Executive Education rankings for 2016, listing the best business schools and customised business courses across the globe.<\/p>\n

Executive education refers to\u00a0non-degree programmes which are either tailor-made for corporate customers (customised) or available to all working managers (open), the FT said.<\/p>\n

In South Africa, four business schools\u00a0were highlighted, with only one ranking within the top 50 in the world – the University of Pretoria’s GIBS institute.<\/p>\n

International business school, Duke Corporate Education has operations in South Africa, based in Johannesburg – however, the group is headquartered in the United States.<\/p>\n

The group’s customised course is ranked as the 3rd best in the world.<\/p>\n

The ranking doesn’t look at specific courses (such as the MBA) – but rather analyses business schools on a number of criteria, such as overall scholar satisfaction, course diversity and quality of teaching.<\/p>\n

In a separate ranking, looking specifically at MBAs, the University of Cape Town’s GSB previously ranked top in the country in 2015.<\/p>\n

Overall, there were 85 customised courses assessed and ranked – including 5 operating in South Africa – and there were 75 open courses ranked – including 3 in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Taking both rankings into consideration, the FT ranked the top 50 business schools<\/a><\/strong>, where UP’s GIBS ranked 43rd overall – the only South African school to feature.<\/p>\n
