New data from online booking service, Travelstart, shows how air travel fares have been redeuced over the past few years for domestic flights in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Comparing January and February 2016 flight prices from those in 2015 and 2014, Travelstart<\/a> found that no single (OneWay) flight exceeded an average R2,000, while some popular routes dipped under the R1,000 on average, unlike prior years.<\/p>\n

Travelstart’s data is based on paid, OneWay bookings made on its website, while the fare amounts includes base fare and tax.<\/p>\n

Comparing January and February 2016 flight prices from a year ago, it found that nine routes out of 14 analyzed, are cheaper than last year’s prices.<\/p>\n

Routes from Durban to Johannesburg and Cape Town, and from Joburg to Cape Town and Durban have shown massive declines, more than R500 per fare.<\/p>\n
