Taxi app, Uber, will pilot UberGreen – a 100% electric ride service – in Cape Town, from 13 June to 18 July 2016.<\/p>\n
In April Uber partnered with Nissan and BMW to bring Johannesburg riders UberGreen as part of an effort to help reduce CO\u2082 emissions.<\/p>\n
“UberGreen received a wonderful response in Joburg – a total of 15 000 riders applied the UberGreenSA promocode and over 5 300 km were travelled sustainably,” the company said.<\/p>\n
As with\u00a0Johannesburg, during the pilot, riders will be able to request a BMW i3 operated by Uber driver-partners in Cape Town at uberX prices.<\/p>\n
Uber has partnered with Woolworths to enable WRewards members to be among the first to have access to these vehicles for a limited period before the pilot officially opens to public.<\/p>\n
As UberGreen is in a trial phase the option is only available in the CBD and Atlantic Seaboard between 7am and 7pm.<\/p>\n
