Police say they are investigating an incident caught on camera showing two suspects escaping from an unattended police van in Pinetown, Durban on Thursday, 9 June.<\/p>\n
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport\u201a Community Safety and Liaison Mxolisi Kaunda said the two suspects had been arrested for the possession of a dangerous and unlicensed weapon.<\/p>\n
He called for a full-scale investigation into the escape. “If police were negligence\u201a action must be taken against them. If a member of the community assisted the suspects\u201a law must also take it cause\u201a\u201d he said, as reported by the Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is not clear whether the bakkie was locked or a member of the community assisted the suspects to open hence the call by MEC Kaunda for a thorough investigation\u201a\u201d said the MEC\u2019s spokesman\u201a Sipho Khumalo.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
