{"id":127273,"date":"2016-06-19T08:43:35","date_gmt":"2016-06-19T06:43:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=127273"},"modified":"2016-06-19T08:43:35","modified_gmt":"2016-06-19T06:43:35","slug":"former-prasa-boss-wiped-sensitive-data-from-laptop-and-tablet-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/127273\/former-prasa-boss-wiped-sensitive-data-from-laptop-and-tablet-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Prasa boss wiped &#8220;sensitive data&#8221; from laptop and tablet: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Passenger Rail Association of South Africa (Prasa) head, Lucky Montana allegedly asked an IT specialist to wipe his laptop\u00a0thought to contain &#8220;sensitive&#8221; data relating to the rail company.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to a report by the City Press, quoting IT technician Othusitse Mogolelwa, who was fired from Prasa in April.\u00a0Mogolelwa submitted a signed affidavit making the claim.<\/p>\n<p>He said that Montana had asked him to &#8220;clean&#8221; his laptop and tablet computer before the devices were to be handed to investigators looking into Prasa&#8217;s financial affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Montana was fired from Prasa in July 2015 following a massive mess up at the company in which it purchased billions of rands worth of locomotives that were not suitable for South African rail lines.<\/p>\n<p>Montana defended the purchases, as well as the group&#8217;s head engineer who made the initial assessments &#8211; who was later fired, as he was not a registered engineer at all.<\/p>\n<p>Mogolelwa was described as Montana&#8217;s &#8220;go-to&#8221; IT guy, and was found by investigators to have various forensic tools at his disposal at the agency.
