{"id":12925,"date":"2012-05-18T15:18:43","date_gmt":"2012-05-18T13:18:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=12925"},"modified":"2012-05-18T15:46:07","modified_gmt":"2012-05-18T13:46:07","slug":"jse-lists-single-stock-future-on-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/12925\/jse-lists-single-stock-future-on-facebook\/","title":{"rendered":"JSE lists single stock future on Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local investors can gain exposure to social network group <a title=\"Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1710-Facebook\">Facebook<\/a>, without using their foreign allowance allocation, the <a title=\"JSE\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1663-JSE-Limited\">JSE<\/a> said on Friday (18, May).<\/p>\n<p>Investors can make use of today\u2019s listing of Single Stock Future (SSF) contract on the JSE, which was timed with Facebook\u2019s <a title=\"Nasdaq\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1875-Nasdaq\">Nasdaq<\/a> IPO, the group said.<\/p>\n<p>Priced at $38 per share, Facebook\u2019s initial public offering is expected to generate at least $16 billion. This makes it the third-largest IPO in US history and by the largest of any US internet company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExposure to Facebook is through the suite of Single Stock Futures (SSFs) listed on the JSE that track performance of the selected international companies. Called International Derivatives or IDX, the range of products includes SSFs on companies such as <a title=\"Nokia\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1650-Nokia-Corporation\">Nokia<\/a>, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Bank of America, <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1648-Apple\">Apple<\/a> and Berkshire Hathaway,\u201d the JSE said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese derivatives offer local investors the opportunity to gain exposure to international blue-chip companies without dealing with a foreign bank or broker,\u201d added Magnus De Wet manager: derivatives specialist at the JSE.<\/p>\n<p>The JSE further explained that the Facebook SSF can be purchased through any JSE-registered broker in the same way that one would purchase local derivatives products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile retail investors and corporate entities do not have any exchange control restrictions in trading the instrument, institutional investors do have to comply with foreign portfolio regulations.\u00a0 Contracts are priced and settled in Rands.
