Early reports that a South African\u00a0plane was hijacked have been dismissed, with\u00a0a technical glitch being blamed for the false alarm.<\/p>\n

Arrive Alive confirmed\u00a0that the hijack distress signal indicated after landing, but was set off due to technical glitch.<\/p>\n

Tweets and early reports\u00a0were sent out on Monday (11 July) alerting the public that a South African plane was hijacked en route to Wonderboom in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0plane\u00a0was part of SA Airlink, and was carrying\u00a072 passengers and 4 staff. The plane was travelling between Cape Town and Pretoria.<\/p>\n

SA Airlink confirmed that the alert was sent out due to an anomaly.<\/p>\n

“We confirm that hijack alert for SA8678 on 11 July 2016 from CT to Wonderboom appears to be an anomaly. 72 passengers & 4 crew members safe,” thegroup said.<\/p>\n
