target=\"_blank\">Shark Tank<\/a> to South Africa, set to broadcast on Sunday nights from October 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The local version of the Emmy Award-winning US reality show Shark Tank will see entrepreneurs pitch their ideas in front of a panel of successful South African business moguls.<\/p>\n<p>Known as the \u201cSharks\u201d, these acclaimed local entrepreneurs are willing to invest their own money and time to develop deserving and potentially lucrative business ventures.<\/p>\n<p>Entrants will need to convince these highly critical and experienced Sharks, whose names will be announced in due course, that it will be worth their while to bankroll their new business, product or invention.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>How to get into the Shark Tank<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Sponsored in full by Telkom SA, entries for Shark Tank SA are now open, and all you have to do is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mnet.tv\/sharktank\" target=\"_blank\">mnet.tv\/sharktank<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Submit a 60-second video with a concise version of your business pitch to the sharks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The video can be filmed on a camera or on your phone and doesn\u2019t have to be of high production quality.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all about giving an elevator pitch that demonstrates that you really mean business.<\/p>\n<p>If shortlisted, you will be able to step into the Shark Tank for a shot at convincing the Sharks to back you financially.<\/p>\n<p>Entries close on Sunday, 24 July and successful candidates will be notified by Thursday, 4 August.<\/p>\n<p>You have to be a South African citizen or resident, and must be over the age of 18 to enter.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>What you can expect<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s indeed the opportunity of a lifetime for everyone who needs some funds to make their money-making dreams come true,\u201d said M-Net\u2019s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard.<\/p>\n<p>He adds, though, that Sharks have sharp teeth, and you will need to tell them how much capital you\u2019re asking for, in exchange for what percentage of equity in your business.<\/p>\n<p>Then the Sharks will grill you about your product, business forecasts, competition and growth ideas before even considering an investment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you stand your ground, have your facts straight and show promise, however, the rewards will be worth the sweat, and you\u2019ll be swimming with the big fish!\u201d Lombard said.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom Chief Marketing Officer Enzo Scarcella added that \u201cTelkom believes in the power of small business to create jobs and grow South Africa\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to be able to partner with M-Net in bringing Shark Tank South Africa to our screens in order to inspire entrepreneurs and start-ups around the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mnet.tv\/sharktank\" target=\"_blank\">Shark Tank South Africa<\/a> will be broadcast on Sunday nights from October 2016 on M-Net, channel 101 on DStv.<\/p>\n<p>Shark Tank is based on the format created by Nippon TV in Japan and distributed around the world by SPT, and the series is produced for
