The program has already drawn R193 billion in investment over the past five years, but now new bids are up in the air.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bdlive.co.za\/business\/transport\/2016\/07\/22\/not-over-says-outa-as-saa-ditches-bnp\">SAA&#8217;s decision to cancel a R256 million deal with BnP Capital was its own decision, not affected by external factors, the group says<\/a><\/strong>. However, civil group Outa &#8211; who brought legal action against the airline over the deal &#8211; says the matter is far from over, as the group now targets the SAA board (headed up by Zuma friend, Dudu Myeni).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africa&#8217;s rand firmed to its strongest in nearly three\u00a0months against the dollar on Thursday, boosted by a search\u00a0for higher yield after the central bank left its repo rate\u00a0unchanged and analysts ruled out any imminent policy easing. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xe.com\/currencycharts\/?from=USD&amp;to=ZAR\">On Friday the rand was trading at R14.20 to the dollar, R18.78 to the pound and R15.66 to the euro<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In global news:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/af.reuters.com\/article\/southAfricaNews\/idAFL8N1A80BV\">Asian stocks dipped on Friday after weak corporate results\u00a0halted Wall Street&#8217;s record run overnight<\/a><\/strong>, while the yen\u00a0held to large gains made after the Bank of Japan governor\u00a0downplayed the need for &#8220;helicopter money&#8221; stimulus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-global-oil-idUSKCN10202N\">Crude oil futures rose in quiet Asian trading on Friday but\u00a0gains were limited following big falls in the previous\u00a0session<\/a><\/strong> as investors reassessed U.S. data underlining the\u00a0glut in petroleum, while Iraqi crude exports are on the\u00a0rise.\u00a0Brent crude fell 13 cents to $46.07 a barrel, while U.S. crude dropped 25 cents to $44.50 a barrel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other news: <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iol.co.za\/news\/crime-courts\/nel-has-30-reasons-why-oscars-jail-terms-too-lenient-2048234\">The Oscar Pistorius saga continues as the state has applied to appeal his sentencing for murder, which it says is far too lenient.<\/a><\/strong> State prosecutor Gerrie Nel has listed 30 reasons why Judge Masipa erred in her sentencing.
