{"id":131268,"date":"2016-07-25T10:22:53","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T08:22:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=131268"},"modified":"2016-07-25T15:27:59","modified_gmt":"2016-07-25T13:27:59","slug":"fnb-hit-by-massive-connectivity-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/131268\/fnb-hit-by-massive-connectivity-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"FNB hit by massive connectivity issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>[Update] <\/strong>Following the intermittent connectivity issues experienced yesterday and earlier today, we can confirm that connectivity has been restored across all systems.<\/p>\n<p>Our technicians are working to maintain ongoing stability and clients should be able to access all banking services.<\/p>\n<p>We once again apologise for the inconvenience and would like to thank our customers for their patience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[Original article]<\/strong> First National Bank (FNB) said on Monday that its banking channels have been hit by &#8216;intermittent connectivity issues&#8217; due to a network upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>The bank&#8217;s clients reported\u00a0issues with the bank\u2019s\u00a0digital channels on Sunday with many using social media to complain they were unable to withdraw money from ATMs, perform transactions through\u00a0cellphone banking or the FNB app, or pay by swiping their cards.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Monday, Mo Hassem, FNB chief information officer, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;First National Bank (FNB) is aware of intermittent connectivity issues currently experienced by customers using our banking channels.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is due to a network upgrade and we are taking remedial action to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We hope to fully restore all services as soon as possible and will continue to provide updates.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;FNB apologises to its customers for any inconvenience caused.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>FNB initially reported on Sunday that the problem had been fixed. The bank\u2019s customer service account on Twitter, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/rbjacobs\" target=\"_blank\">@RbJacobs<\/a><\/strong>, told clients that the problem\u00a0had been resolved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was an intermittent issue experienced. All systems are up and running.
