{"id":13147,"date":"2012-05-22T12:03:06","date_gmt":"2012-05-22T10:03:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=13147"},"modified":"2012-05-22T13:53:31","modified_gmt":"2012-05-22T11:53:31","slug":"top-tech-brands-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/13147\/top-tech-brands-in-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Top tech brands in the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Millward Brown released its BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands 2012 report recently, revealing that <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1648-Apple\">Apple<\/a>, <a title=\"IBM - International Business Machine\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1700-IBM-International-Business-Machine\">IBM<\/a> and <a title=\"Google\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1719-Google\">Google<\/a> are the top three brands in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The study, commissioned by WPP and conducted by Millward Brown Optimor and now in its seventh year, identifies and ranks the world&#8217;s most valuable brands by their dollar value; an analysis based on financial data; market intelligence; and consumer measures of brand equity.<\/p>\n<p>According to the study, the world&#8217;s biggest brands have continued to grow in value during the current economic uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>The number one brand for the second year, Apple, rose 19% in value and is now worth $182.9 billion. IBM grew 15% in value to $115.9 billion and overtook Google, which dropped to third place in the ranking and is now worth $107.8 billion.<\/p>\n<p>In advance of its IPO, eight year old Facebook rose 74% in value, making it the fastest brand value riser in the ranking. Worth $33.2 billion, the social network moved up to No.19 from No.35.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Technology has become ubiquitous in all areas of our lives. MTN has established a number of foundations to work with our communities to address socio-economic challenges in our markets.
