Africa to get new number plates in 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa is set to receive new number plates in 2017, according to a report by <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/government\/174788-new-number-plates-for-south-africa.html\" target=\"_blank\">MyBroadband<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>New national number plates were first officially mentioned in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.za\/sites\/www.gov.za\/files\/38430_gen79.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Department of Transport Notice<\/strong><\/a> on 28 January\u00a02015.<\/p>\n<p>The draft regulation amendments were opened to public comment at the time of their publication.<\/p>\n<p>Arrive Alive stated at a recent conference that the new number plates are due in 2017 and that the plates must be renewed\u00a0every five years.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Number-plates-header.jpg\"><img plates looks like<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new number plates will be an embossed aluminium plate, with the background printed under a coat of a retro-reflective surface.<\/p>\n<p>The plates will contain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South African National Flag.<\/li>\n<li>The word \u201cGAUTENG\u201d for the province of Gauteng, \u201cLIMPOPO\u201d for the province of Limpopo, and so on.<\/li>\n<li>The sequential number shall be on the bottom left of the number plate.<\/li>\n<li>SABS certification mark.<\/li>\n<li>Four-dimensional barcode with the QR code that contains the registration number of the manufacturer of blank number plates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\"
