Other parties are remaining tight-lipped, with some speculation that the EFF might simply stay out of it, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rdm.co.za\/politics\/2016\/08\/11\/coalition-latest-brace-yourself-for-minority-rule-in-joburg-and-tshwane\">leaving the DA and ANC to form minority governments in hung municipalities<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africa&#8217;s rand was little changed near 10-month highs\u00a0on Thursday and gains in the benchmark stock index were\u00a0limited by losses for Old Mutual shares after weak results\u00a0and news of a possible delay to its break-up. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xe.com\/currencycharts\/?from=USD&amp;to=ZAR\">On Friday the rand was trading at R13.41 to the dollar R17.40 to the pound and R14.94 to the euro<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In global news,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/af.reuters.com\/article\/southAfricaNews\/idAFL8N1AT0DX\">Asian stocks inched up on Friday, after a surge in oil\u00a0prices helped propel Wall Street to record highs overnight<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0while Chinese economic indicators that missed expectations\u00a0did not dent gains in mainland shares.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Oil prices edged up in early trading on Friday, extending\u00a0gains from the previous session on expectations that\u00a0exporters could at an upcoming meeting talk about ways to\u00a0prop up a market that continues to be dogged by a supply\u00a0overhang. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-global-oil-idUSKCN10N03T\">Brent crude oil futures were trading at $46.20 per barrel, up 16 cents, while\u00a0U.S. crude futures were at $43.71 a barrel, up 22 cents<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In other news<\/strong>: <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iol.co.za\/business\/news\/growth-dramatically-slowing-2055860\">The latest\u00a0BankservAfrica Economic Transaction Index for July shows that South Africa&#8217;s economic activity is &#8220;dramatically slowing&#8221;<\/a><\/strong>, after surprising data from June showing a boost in productivity.
