Telkom has secured an urgent interim court order interdicting and restraining the CWU and its members from a number of illegal activities associated with the union\u2019s current strike.<\/p>\n
Today, the CWU blocked access to the Telkom Campus in Centurion along with some Telkom yards.<\/p>\n
Almost\u00a0100 CWU members harassed and intimidated employees in Centurion, said Telkom, with employees physically restrained by protesting workers from entering the Telkom Campus.<\/p>\n
There were also reports of blockades and intimidation at Telkom facilities elsewhere in the country.<\/p>\n
The court order interdicts and restrains the CWU from the following activities:<\/p>\n
The CWU must also instruct its members to refrain from interfering with Telkom\u2019s operations and blockading entrances.<\/p>\n
Members who are participating in the strike must do so 50 meters away from Telkom premises.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will not tolerate the sort of thuggish behaviour we witnessed today,\u201d said Telkom.<\/p>\n
Telkom said it has met the unions on many of their demands, such as a moratorium on retrenchments, a cap on outsourcing, and a guaranteed increase next year.<\/p>\n
