The High Court in Johannesburg has ruled that the National Energy Regulator must review its decision to allow Eskom to hike\u00a0prices from 1 April.<\/p>\n
This is according to a report by Bloomberg<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 and comes after a group of businesses\u00a0argued that Eskom needed to be more open about its expenses.<\/p>\n The regulator granted Eskom permission<\/strong><\/a> in March to recoup expenses it hadn\u2019t budgeted for in 2014 by raising tariffs by an average of 9.4%, starting 1 April.<\/p>\n A group of companies alleged the permission\u00a0was unlawful and that Eskom must provide regular updates on its financial situation.<\/p>\n The court said judging price applications isn\u2019t part of its competency and sent the decision back to the regulator.<\/p>\n Eskom said i a brief note on social media that it is currently studying the judgment.<\/p>\n Eskom strike averted<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Eskom senior managers placed on suspension<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\nMore on Eskom<\/h3>\n
