The SA Post Office has launched a free app for both Android and iPhone platforms which allows customers to keep track of all their parcels at a glance.<\/p>\n
The new app also locates the nearest Post Office branches to the user.<\/p>\n
Called \u201cSouth African Post Office\u201d, it is available on the Google Playstore for Android devices and on the iStore for Apple devices.<\/p>\n
The app tracks and traces both the South African and international parcels via the allocated tracking numbers.<\/p>\n
It immediately reports where the item was dispatched from, where it was scanned en route and the name of the person who collected it. Customers can also simply scan the barcode of the track-and-trace label to track the item.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is intrinsic to our new strategy of modernising our services as a group, with technology the critical enabler for customer solutions,\u201d said Mthoko Mncwabe, chief information officer.<\/p>\n
Mncwabe said the app also has a \u201cfind a branch\u201d functionality which uses satellite navigation to locate the user, and then provides all Post Office branches within a radius of 10 kilometres within their street address and contact details.<\/p>\n
Further, the app shows whether motor vehicle licence renewals can be done at each branch. During the past financial year, more than 3 million motor vehicle licences were renewed at Post Office branches.<\/p>\n
\u201cReliability and convenience are requirements for customers in the 21st<\/sup> century.
