South Africa’s 400 metre Olympic gold medal winner Wayde van Niekerk was spotted wearing a Richard Mille RM 27-02 Tourbillon wrist watch.<\/p>\n

While its not uncommon for athletes to sport watches whilst breaking world records, the RM 27-02 may be a bit different in that it costs $800,000 – \u00a0or R10 700 000 in local currency.<\/p>\n

The watch was made famous by Rafael Nadal, and was spotted on several athletes at the Rio Games\u00a0 – including current SA golden boy, van Niekerk.<\/p>\n

Besides being rewarded with R500,000 by the South African South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc<\/em>)<\/span> for winning a gold medal at the Olympic Games, sports agents believe that van Nikerk will be able to cash in on his new found celebrity.<\/p>\n

He has already been named as a new Audi Sport Ambassador, and will have the luxury of driving the Audi RS 3 Sportback upon his return to South Africa.<\/p>\n
